Past Presence Versus Future Presence

Past Presence Versus Future Presence

Presence.

The state or fact of being present, as with others or in a place.

Or how you show up.

How you've always shown up versus how you want to show up.

Your presence of self in the past versus what is possible in the future.

Many entrepreneurs exist and chase a future vision.

A dream, we call it.

In this dream there are things.

Sometimes material things.

Sometimes abstract or hard-to-articulate things.

And then there is presence.

And then, in this future dream of yours, there is how you show up.

I am reminded of a CEO I spoke with years back.

He had this future vision...

This dream.

This place in his mind that he was in tension of.

He did everything in the name of this future place.

In this future place, he was who he wanted to be.

He was the CEO he wanted to be.

He was the partner to his significant other he wanted to be.

He was the father he wanted to be.

The foundation of this future place had roots in his presence.

The presence he desired was a place of being content. Being satisfied. Being satiated.

That presence brought about a sense of peace.

A feeling in the body.

A feeling of letting the shoulders drop.

A profound knowing of everything being ok.

Of having enough.

Of being enough.

Left unexamined, he spent many years trying to find this place in the future.

On our call, he saw how he could embody this future presence now.

What if the future does not bring you presence?

What if you had the power to self-regulate and bring this presence to who you are... now?

I wonder.
