I hear stories about this often.
You have this vision of who someone is.
Then, you meet them in person... and they're "not what you expected."
Maybe they're "better" than you thought they would be, or maybe not.
When this process happens, it can be a projection.
A projection of your baseline view of humanity and other people.
Most often, it is not examined and you can end up not seeing people for who they actually are, but who they are for you.
This can create a type of pain and suffering when people don't do what you want or they don't act the way you want.
This occurs when you don't see others for who they are.
This occurs when you see them for who they are for you.
If this resonates for you, as it once did for me, then I invite you to open your mind to a new way of being with people.
A way of being with people where you honor them for who they are.
A way of being where you let go of expectation and a need to craft others in your image.
This can occur with family, close friends, customers, or sometimes strangers.
Again, you have a baseline, or foundational approach, to how you see "other people."
And this innate approach you've learned affects how you show up with said "other people."
This approach you have affects the types of people and the types of challenges you bring into your life.
When you know how you see other people you can begin to live into a different way of being.
I invite you to get curious.
